Can you believe it’s almost twenty years since the beginning of our journey? We’ve come far since first setting foot in that abandoned Little Chef in 2004. We’ve lived through setbacks and many unprecedented challenges, especially in the last couple of years.
But no matter what life throws at us, no matter how hard things get, we are always looking ahead.
And so today, we’re excited to announce that the long-planned modernisation of our facilities starts in one week from Monday 23rd January. It is the first phase of three in a two-year-long programme running up to our Cafe’s 20th anniversary.
In November 2022 we reviewed Isle of Ely Produce's new variety of chipping potatoes called Babylon for the Chippy Chat magazine. A task we didn't take lightly and one we approached with enthusiasm. Thanks to our many years of chip frying experience, we quickly found the best temperature and ideal cooking time to fry these chips to perfection.

Our Cafe received an early Christmas present when the Great Outdoors Magazine announced the winners of their 2022 The Great Outdoors Reader Awards. We were thrilled to learn that our Tyndrum Cafe won the Walkers' Cafe/Restaurant of the Year category!
The Real Food Cafe has been shortlisted for the Great Outdoors Magazine TGO Reader Award 2022 in the Walkers' Cafe or Restaurant of the Year category. Now it's up to the public to decide, please vote for us.
Every summer, we are delighted to meet and serve thousands of West Highland Way walkers and many other adventurers passing through Tyndrum and this recognition would make us proud.
The Real Food Cafe Is In The Top 5 Finalists in The National Fish & Chips Awards Field To Frier Category
The Real Food Cafe has been an official living wage employer since 2018 and we were one of the first Living Wage employers in Stirlingshire to become one.
This Living Wage Week, held this year from 14th to 20th November, Living Wage Employers from all over the UK joined their voices to speak up about the importance of paying a living wage. We were also highlighting our employee benefits and the things we do to help our team stay at the top of their game. And this is their summary.
My name is Vladislava Spasova and I am from Svishtov, Bulgaria (born and raised). I am living in Crianlarich, Scotland at the moment.
When did you join the team at The Real Food Café?
I started working for The Real Food Café on 10th of April 2017, then a year later I went home with my boyfriend to get married and have a nice honeymoon. I missed Scotland and The Real Food Café team, so I came back and re-joined in 2019, still super happy to be part of such a great team.
On our first litter pick that took place on 30th May we were blown away by the support from off duty team members, locals, regulars and Flingers from the Highland Fling Race. A bunch of the Tyndrum 24 runners came to our second one and some West Highland Way racers will be joining our July pick. We are very grateful for the support shown from these organisations.
