Earlier this month, we let you know that our Imogen has become one of the 10 finalists in the Young Fish Frier of the Year category in the National Fish & Chip Awards 2024 organised by the National Federation of Fish Friers.

Today, we learned that she's made it to the Top 6. We couldn't be prouder. What an incredible achievement for her and the entire team.

Last month we challenged our social media followers to help us come up with the best pun to feature in our annual advert for the Killin Drama Club Killin Panto programme for the 2024 Panto, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. The audience did not disappoint.

Our 2023 litterpicking season ended on a high note with a fully booked event. This  has been the 3rd consecutive year of our popular Pick & Chips: Meet Up - Clean Up - Eat Up events and to date, we collected a whopping 3.5 tonnes (500+sacks) of roadside litter and engaged 280 volunteers. 

For the ninth consecutive year, The Real Food Cafe has proudly received an A grade certification from Coeliac UK. 

Talk about perfect timing! On October 27th, in the midst of a bustling lunchtime, just two days before the conclusion of Gluten Free Fortnight 2023, we had an unannounced visit from Coeliac UK for a comprehensive audit of our gluten free food handling processes.

We are thrilled that we've been recognised as Tripadvisor® 2023 Travelers’ Choice® Award Winner which places us, a remote Scottish diner, in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide. 

Gluten Free Fortnight, returns for its fourth year from 14 to 29 October 2023 bringing an extra portion of joy to our customers living with Coeliac disease and gluten sensitivities and demonstrating the benefits of safe gluten free catering to other hospitality venues.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet our cheese suppliers, the passionate cheesemakers, Dorothy and Robert, from Ballochmyle Fine Cheese in Ayrshire, who came to visit us the other day.

Our Cafe has been shortlisted for a Visit Scotland Regional Thistle Award 2023 in the 'Celebrating Thriving Communities' category, how exciting!

We're excited to announce that we're running a Devil of the Highlands charity raffle to celebrate the 19th season of the Devil o' the Highlands Footrace on 12th August. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Toilet Twinning.

The popular Killin Highland Games return on Wednesday 2 August 2023 and once again, The Real Food Cafe is delighted to sponsor the Hill Race discipline of the games. Competitors can look forward to snacks and meal vouchers donated by the Cafe and thoughtful prizes including two awards dedicated to the late Herbie McLean, a dedicated hill runner and a cherished member of the community.
